NASA HangoutDNews and NASA are excited to announce their monthly Google+ Hangout series, with their first-ever Hangout kicking off today at 4pm PDT. Every month, DNews will sit down with NASA at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory to discuss a wide variety of topics with space experts.

This month’s Hangout will focus on asteroids and meteors, answering questions such as “How are meteor showers formed?” And “How do we detect asteroids that could hit Earth?”

Today’s discussion will be around NASA’s work with asteroids and a new, mysterious meteor shower that might be coming to Earth on May 23 or 24. The session will be moderated by DNews hosts Trace Dominguez and Dr. Ian O’Neill with a panel of guest experts including:

  • Don Yeomans, Manager of NASA’s Near-Earth Object program office
  • Brian Muirhead, Chief Engineer at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory
  • Dr. Amy Mainzer, Principal Investigator of the NEOWISE mission

You can tweet your questions for a chance to be answered on-air using the hashtag #SpaceOut on Twitter. RSVP now and don’t miss the chance to join today’s Hangout!
